Part fairy tale part gritty-real-life tale, ‘Adventures’ invites us to the roots of the Mother Tree to witness the stories of PJ and Wendy, two teenagers on the edge of a life altering moment

PJ lives on a boat with his boys and it’s called S.S. Neverland cuz its Never-On-Land. Wendy likes to wear high heeled flip flops while running through the woods at night. Mother Tree, our solo narrator, is a 300-year-old tree. She plays the parts of PJ and Wendy as she tells the story of how they got to be standing on her tallest branch, deciding whether they’ll fly or fall if they jump off.

Join us after dark for Gillian Clark’s exciting new play, for the hopeful and the hopeless.

An image of PJ and Wendy in the tree. Wendy is standing triumphantly barefoot on a branch. She has on a blue collaged tank top, and an orange collaged skirt. PJ is below her, looking decidedly less triumphant. He is crouched down, holding onto the branches where he can. He has on a collaged blue squared shirt, with pink shorts. He is wearing sneakers. The tree is large and gold and sprawling, with grey leaves. There is the suggestion of a moon in the distance.

Accessibility

Keep Good (Theatre) Company is working with accessibility coordinator Sara Graham on creating an accessible and safe environment for anyone who wishes to see Adventures. Keep Good Theatre believes in creating spaces centred in wholeness where everyone feels invited in. However, we have a long way to go, and In the spirit of true transparency we want to acknowledge the inaccessibility of Point Pleasant Park, especially after dark.

The following accessibility measures are in place for this show:

ASL:  ASL interpretation will be provided by Rhonda Kaassamani  for our Thursday and Saturday night performances.

Accessible non-gendered washrooms: Accessible non-gendered washrooms are close to the performance site. They will be outfitted with ramps for the performance.

Golf Cart: If you think you might have difficulty walking to the performance site please email us about booking a ride in our golf cart at keepgoodtheatre@gmail.com

Sighted guide: If you wish to have the assistance of sighted guide guiding your way to the performance site, please email keepgoodtheatre@gmail.com

COVID-19

Due to Nova Scotia’s current COVID-19 guidelines for outdoor performances, Adventures will have a limited audience of fifty people per night. The company’s priority is keeping audiences safe while delivering accessible, professional live theatre. Our current plan is that we will ask that our audience wear masks while entering and exiting the site as well as while seated, however we will be continuing to assess the public health guidelines and recommendations and will update ticket holders accordingly if there are any changes.

DOGS

Please note the show will take place in an off-leash area of the park, and there is a possibility that dogs may interact with the show and audience.
